On My Lunch Break...

I'm constantly doing research flipping through magazines, lookbooks, previews, newspapers, etc for work and pleasure. I go through half a dozen notebooks and such filling them with images of things that are lovely, unique, awkward, indiscernible, and whatever else seems to move me. When it comes to the things that inspire me it is measured by one standard...How jealous I am that I didn't create or wasn't part of whatever the piece might be.

During some down time Tuesday (aka my 15 min lunch break) I got my hands on the last couple of W Magazine issues. I was stunned at the issue of W with Eva Mendes on the cover. Page after page I was overwhelmed, in a good way. I saw the editorial Lunch Break styled by Alex White and photographed by Terry Richardson and the jealousy quickly made its way in. Here are a few images from the location part of the spread.

Without a doubt my favorite. I love the colors, the retro spin, and each outfit in and of themselves!

Wardrobe Diaries:: Repeat Offender...

I'm a little embarrassed to say that I have been living in my new Juicy Couture harem pants for the last week. In their defense they are as comfortable as they are readily available everywhere (at all price points) . I had a long day of prepping for a shoot yesterday but once we wrapped I met up with my old roomie and long time bestie for dinner, drinks, and reality tv overload. My pants were the perfect accoutrement for work to vegging activities.

Sunglasses:: F21 cat eye sunnies
Shirt:: Old Navy linen button down
Pants:: Juicy Couture harem pants
Shoes:: Target gold ankle bow sandals
Bag:: my trusty and faithful Marc Jacobs turnlock "suitcase" (introduced here)
Necklace & Bracelets:: clueless on the names, acquired from a friend

How often do you recycle an outfit or item?! What are your rules on repeats?!

Pretty Pretty Princess Dress Up...

Saturday afternoon Felicia and I headed to Karen Robinovitz's house to play dress up in her fabulous closets that inevitably rendered me speechless (which doesn't happen often)!!!

Since I wasn't able to formulate words head over to Felicia's blog (here) to get the run down on the amazing pieces that reside in Karen's collection!

PS:: Yet again, I have a new hair cut... Pics coming soon!

Wardrobe Diaries:: SoSume Launch...

I'm apologizing ahead of time for being so far behind on posts regarding events I've been to recently. July 15th I headed to INVEN.TORY with my partner in crime, Roxy to the Sosume launch party. It was sweltering due to a broken air conditioner but that didn't stop us from doing some shopping, mingling, and cutting up a rug.

Who knows what we were laughing at?! Actually, I think we were supposed to be serious and started cracking up right before Christina (the photographer and our new friend) snapped our mugs!

World of Juicy Night Out w. Erin Fetherston...

Tuesday night I had the honor of meeting up with a dozen other bloggers for a World of Juicy Night Out with Erin Fetherston event. Erin is collaborating with the brand to be their new guest designer this fall. We congregated in Soho at Meet at the Apartment for an incredibly delicious meal, amazing conversation, styling tips/steals, and uncontrollable laughs.

When we settled into our seat there was a little gift waiting for us. All the girls and I received a Sony Bloggie (how adorable is the name?)!

{me with the lovely Julia from Fashion Pulse Daily}

After dinner, drinks, and desert were finished we headed over to the Juicy Couture store on Bleecker for some late night after hours shopping!

Of course you can't shop without music...so the tunes were spun by India.

Karen R. and I walked away with matching harem pants. And yes, we have every intention of wearing them together! I also left with (courtesy of Juicy) an uber girly and scrumptious leather jacket and gray military jacket (with coat tails). I CAN NOT wait until fall to start wearing them!

The night was amazing. Erin was so lovely and charming. She even told us her secret of how she keeps her bangs so perfect! I can't wait to see what she designs for Juicy this fall...anxious and eager for the collection!

Karen Robinovitz, Erin, and World of Juicy...THANK YOU for such an incredible night! I've been beside myself all week!

check out Juicy's details from the night here.

New Design Disposition...

Last week I went to the 44th floor in a building off Broadway to preview Talbots Winter 2010 collection. I heard they had a new team of designers that were changing things up a bit and I was eager to see what they had in store. I was stunned... The collection was not at all what I expected. Layers of fur, cashmere, sequins, plaid, even a pair of slim silhouetted cargo wool pants.

This was hands down my favorite outfit in the showroom. Sequins + Plaid + Short gloves = ADORABLE. An order will soon be placed to my mother for a buffalo plaid coat and then I'm hoping to snag this gunmetal sequin tank dress. I fell in love with the necklace adorning the mannequins neck and to my surprise, received my very own thanks to the lovely and generous team.

These looks are all appropriate and relevant for mi madre. I can totally see her in the white pants and gold sequin t-shirt. Slim fit cropped pants have always been her forte a la Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face... The white cardigan with gold metallic brocade pants is a must.

I'm not a huge proponent of suits, but this army green number is pretty cute. The ruffled skirt takes it out of the conventional, conservative, expected power suit realm.

This will be another go to winter ensemble for me. An adorable chunky sweater dress with tights, knee high riding boots, and a belt... and an occasional silk slip underneath to add some detail and texture.

Amazing accessories, ie fur, will be the perfect finish to any F/W ensemble!

I'm Still Here...

Hi dolls, I know I have been M.I.A. for the last week or so. I've been busy with some freelance jobs, collection previews, and incredible events...all to be posted on here before the end of the weekend (hopefully). I couldn't neglect you any longer so I wanted to post a quick pic from last night's World of Juicy w. Erin Fetherston event. I can't give too much away just yet...

The event was amazing. I met some incredibly fashionable ladies:: Felicia, Dina, Julia, Karen, and Aly that kept me laughing all night. And I finally met the chic Karen Robinovitz. We chatted about everything from bags, shoes, food, and men, and it felt like we were old friends reconnecting. (Karen love and adore you, thank you so much for last night!).

I can't wait to post more about the actual event with pictures. So much to share with you so check back soon! I've missed you all dearly!

Metro Manly:: Look For Less...

Last time Nate was featured for an outfit post my inbox was on overload with requests for more of his style. I never cut people any slack, so he had to work for his second feature! We met up with some friends for happy hour yesterday and I loved his outfit...

1:: I wasn't with him when he purchased any of the pieces
2:: I would will borrow and style accordingly!!!

If I'm really eyeing an outfit I will inquire about where items were purchased, how much, etc. So when it came time to interrogate Nate, he concluded the cross-examination with, "I guess it's a look for less!"
Glasses:: Carrera; work related gift
Shirt:: Gap; $20 (on sale from $40)
Pants:: Zara; $30 (on sale from $50)
Shoes:: Sneaky Steve; Gilt Man $5 (after $50 credits from online surveys)
Watch:: Aldo $25

Wardrobe Diaries:: In The Trenches...

Yesterday was a day of catching up on emails, running errands, and meeting up with friends. Towards the end of my day I headed over to the Talbots' office to check out their Winter 2010 collection. I can hear your judgmental and cynical guffaws from here (check back soon for showroom images, I was highly impressed with the new design team). After the preview, I headed down to Soho to meet up with Abbey for coffee talk at Starbucks before heading over to happy hour with some of our friends. The weather yesterday was humid and rainy so I wanted to wear something that hinted at trench coat but was still summery and stylish for work and play related events.

Jacket:: Lela Rose silk taffeta trench coat dress
Top:: Lela Rose tinsel dot tank dress (worn as a top)
Skirt:: Miley Cyrus with Max Azria denim skirt
Shoes:: Target gladiator sandals (replaced my Cynthia Vincent wedges last seen here)
Necklace:: Lela Rose multi color wood bead necklace

I'm Confused...is He gay or straight???

"Well it's not that simple anymore, the real question is, is he a straight gay man or is he a gay straight man? The Gay Straight man was a new strain of heterosexual males spawned in Manhattan as the result of over exposure to fashion, exotic cuisine, musical theater and antique furniture."

Scout's Honor...

When I think of camping, visions of smores, tents, and canteens are instantly interrupted with perplexed thoughts of what will I wear and how will I transport the 2/3 of my closet I will inevitably bring. A couple years calling this city home will make you forget the simplicity and meditation that camping is supposed to be. As evidence here a few images of my friends from a camping trip we took back in October...

We've concluded that plaid= rural/country wear...and that's about as close as we get to embracing that thing called nature...aside from my fishing obsession... But obviously my idea of camping is a little askew, and J.Crew understands me completely. I recently got a preview of their Women's Fall 2010 collection and I've never wanted to hike through woods, kayak, or wear bug repellent so bad.

If Girl Scouts and Brownies ever looked this cool, it would have been reason enough for me to sign up for the sisterhood! Head over here for collection inspiration and tell all from Creative Director, (***edit, New President as of today!) Jenna Lyons. Congratulations!

Simple Stroll...

Friday afternoon I met up with a friend in front of Madison Square Garden. We both finished work early and the temperature was a little below scorching so we decided to take a stroll through the Meatpacking District and West Village. It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to leisurely stroll about the city. We ducked in and out of stores, down cobble stone roads, and through children laden parks. The day was chalk full of inspiration...much needed. As we were heading home and up 7th Ave I saw this Marc Jacobs billboard and had to take a picture. I'm sure I've seen this half a dozen times, but something about the neon palette against the marine sky gave it new life.

The Bold and the Beautiful...

I've got my morning beauty routine pretty much down to a 7 minute science...aka I'm stuck in a rut. On weekends when I'm going out I tend to be a little more experimental but on a day to day basis I stick with ole' faithful, which I must admit is getting pretty BORING. I was clicking through previous runway images and remembered how drop dead gorgeous the models looked at Derek Lam. The pop of color and highlighted brow bone is boldly beautiful!!

Wardrobe Diaries::Give Me Them Bright Lights...

To celebrate July 4th my friends and I climbed to a rooftop in Hells Kitchen to get a clear view of the flaming sky on the west side. Our 30+ party lounged with drinks, music, an assortment of food, and the most beautiful summer sunset.

One of my favorite pics from the weekend with Roxy (L) and Abbey (middle). The three of us are never allowed to live together because we would get nothing done except a) continuous dance party, b) make believe band, and c) too much laughing at those around us. Needless to say, I love and adore these two!
{hi nate}

I didn't pose for many pics that night, so my wardrobe post is unfortunately limited...
Shirt:: H&M breton stripe tunic
Pants:: (not pictured) black shorts
Sunnies:: F21 faux Alexander Wang shades
Shoes:: Target gladiator sandals
